Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday, all! The sun is shinning here in Seattle and the weekend is fast approaching! I have family coming in town to visit and I've been up to my elbows in cleaning this house! Trying to appear as if it's effortlessly clean and comfortable...a real stretch with a one year old! We cleaned out our "junk room" (yes, we have a junk room, and yes, it still has boxes that we haven't unpacked from our move 2 years ago!) and I realized once again, we have TOO MUCH STUFF!  And the stuff we have, I don't like.

Sigh.

Time to get more stuff...new stuff. Haha! The Hubs would die if he read this...moving on.

While I've been up to my elbows in cleaning at home, we've been up to our ears in poetry at school. Spring always feels like a great time for poetry. Flowers are out, the birds are chirping, the sun is shinning, perfect for a little poetry!

My bulletin board needed a little freshening up so we made these cute little guys to go with our Cinquain poems.

I got the original idea off of Pinterest but can't find it now...basically we just drew little pictures of ourselves holding colorful umbrellas then used straws to  carefully blow blue paint around our drawings. The little cuties were too excited to do this project! A great behavior incentive!

I love these rainbow similes! We brainstormed as a class then got to work creating our similes using black sharpies and watercolors. Love how bright and colorful these turned out! I got this idea from Cara Carroll years ago and as far as I'm concerned, it's still a winner!

And of course our Rainbow Name-bow Acrostic poems! These are a hit every year and a must to brighten up the classroom! I got this from Mr. Reagan Turnstall and if you don't have it, it's a must!

In unrelated news, we headed to the Tulip Festival to see fields and fields of these beauties! Makes me wish for a green thumb! Tulips for as far as the eye can see!

Oh-so lovely!

Yes, my friends, Spring is in the air and I'm loving every second of it!
